Legislation for people conceived on or after 1st December 2004

In 2004 Legislation was passed that gives people conceived with the assistance of a donor, after 30 November 2004, the right to identifying information about their parent(s) donor, when they reach 16 years of age. The information, which is provided to the Department of Health by clinics licenced in WA, can only be released after the donor-conceived person attends an information and support session. This session will be with the Department of Health.

Note, the Legislation is specifically for donor-conceived people, donors and parents are not eligible for identifying information.

The Department of Health is currently developing policies and we will provide further information as soon as it is available.

We encourage you to use our services which are free and confidential, and available to all parties involved in donor conception.
